Our Program

How do I qualify for Meals on Wheels? How do I sign up?

Our program is designed for Elderly residents of Charlotte County who are unable to prepare or obtain meals for themselves.

 To qualify;

  1. Be 63 years of age or older 
  2. Unable to physically meet basic nutritional needs temporarily or long term.
  3. Have no other reliable means of obtaining your daily meals.
  4. Have a residential address

Note: It takes up to three business days to process sign up applications and may take longer if income verification is requried.

How old do I need to be to qualify?

63 Years of age or older

HOW MANY MEALS DO I GET EACH DAY?

We deliver one dinner meal per day. Each meal includes a soup and dessert. 

How much does it cost? How do I pay?

Our Meals cost $5 each  and include an entrée, soup and a desert. 

You can pay with Check when you receive your invoice. Or if it's more convenient, you can keep a credit card on file for auto payment. Please note there is a 3.6% convenience fee added to credit card payments.

(individuals who are signing up for short term, less than 30 days, will require prepayment)

Who delivers the meals?

Our meals are delivered by all volunteers, each of which are background checked for yours or your loved ones safety.

When do meals get delivered?

Our Volunteers deliver meals between 9AM and 1PM Monday thru Friday.

Can I sign up a friend or neighbor?

You may refer a friend or neighbor however, we will need to speak directly to the individual before we can start deliveries.

Is Meals on Wheels covered by medicare?

 Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) does not cover Meals on Wheels.  

Can I Pay with Food Stamps?

No, meals on wheels cannot accept food stamps. 

Is Meals on Wheels funded by State or Federal government?

While some Meals on Wheels locations are, Meals on Wheels of Charlotte County is not.  We rely solely on donations and proceeds from donations sold in our Thrift Store.

CANCELLATIONS

If you need to cancel for any reason, we require a 48 hour notice. Unless due to health emergency such as hospitalization. 

Any late cancellations will be billed for that days meal.

COOLERS REQUIRED

Due to the Pandemic, we are requiring that our clients place a cooler outside of thier door with ice to insure safe delivery of our meals. If you are physically unable to do so, special accommodations will be made. Coolers are available if you are unable to obtain one for yourself.
